The Ascension Vestry is excited to announce:

The Reverend Peter Doddema

has been installed as our Rector.

In a gala service, led. by Bishop Mark Van Koevering, Fr. Peter became our 18th Rector (permanent priest)!

Fr. Peter first came to Ascension as our interim priest in September, 2019, arriving shortly before Covid.  Fr. Peter holds a Master of Divinity from Virginia Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Kansas.

He describes himself a parish priest who loves people. He believes in the importance of building a healthy community and also providing pastoral care within the parish and in the community. He believes good relationships come from spending time with parishioners to know what they need and being active in our local community and in the diocese.

Family is important to Fr. Peter. He is married to Nicole, and they offer a strong, supportive team in parish life. Nicole is proud to be a member of Daughters of the King (DOK), and serves on the Diocesan DOK Board. They have a child, Rome, who is a student at  Western Kentucky University.
